Royal Meccano

Circa 1910

The term Meccano was introduced around 1907.  The first Meccano Tin was the Royal Meccano of around 1910, see the picture below.  English Meccano was originally packed in cardboard Boxes up to Outfit No 5 with the No 5 and the then largest Outfit No 6  being available in wooden Boxes. After 1922 the new No 7 was only available in a wooden Box also. After 1937/8 the new Numbered Meccano was available in cardboard Boxes up to No 9 with the No 9 and the new No 10 available in wooden Boxes, continuing post war.
